Our Team

National Directors

A few years ago, some supporters asked us about our team. Rather than talk about our small leadership team based mainly in New Zealand, or the International Board that oversees and governs BSL,
our response was to introduce them to our National Directors who live and serve in the Majority World.

All of our National Directors are graduates of the BSL program, and each of them beautifully embody
the heart of BSL as humble servant-leaders. They are highly respected pastors and leaders in their nations.

Pastor Ruatte is our longest-serving
National Director.
He and his wife Anna
lead a small church
in their home as well as
a small business.
Together they have two beautiful children.

Emmanuel coordinated the first BSL cohort in Central Africa in 2019,
and now leads BSL in the
Democratic Republic of Congo. Emmanuel is married to Carole, and they have 7 children
and 2 grandchildren.

RP was appointed as the National Director of BSL Nepal when it began.
He leads Elohim Church in Bhaktapur with his wife Mithu, and they have 2 adult children. He has just published his fourth book on ministry in Nepali.

Styford leads a church
in Kitwe, Zambia,
and pioneered BSL
in Zambia in 2022. Together with his wife Dorothy, they have
4 adult sons.

Albert is the Pastor of All Nations Discipleship Ministries in Kampala. He oversees a number of churches in rural Uganda and leads a Community Pastors Fellowship. He is married to Grace with three beautiful daughters.

International Team

The International team provides overall leadership to the ministry of BSL worldwide.
The New Zealand-based team serve together on the International Board (see below),
while Pastor Leonard Skumba oversees and encourages our ministry across Africa from his home in Zimbabwe.

Brad took over the primary leadership of BSL in Jan 2024, having
served as a Senior Pastor
for more than 20 years.
Brad and his wife Rochelle have 3 adult sons and one daughter-in-law.
Brad serves as a Teaching Pastor in their church.

International Director

Rowland is a mentor, pastor, writer, teacher, and a former church planter and Bible College principal. He and Elaine have been married over 50 years, and have four children (one in heaven) and 7 adult grandchildren.

Leonard founded BSL in Zimbabwe, before taking on the new role of
Africa Director in 2024.
He and his wife Gertrude lead Glad Tidings Fellowship in Harare, and have 3 adult children
and 1 new grandchild.

Matthew is a trained engineer, and helps lead BSL organisationally.
He directs a non-profit housing group in his city of Christchurch, and serves as a church elder. He and his wife Kathryn have 3 sons.

BSL International Board

The BSL International board is based in New Zealand, where Barnabas School of Ministry is registered as a charity. The board provides governance and oversight to our ministry, as well as faithful prayer and incredible wisdom.
Each board member is highly involved in their local church ministry in New Zealand.

Tim is the General Manager of the Christian Education Trust in Tauranga, NZ, which combines his decades of business experience with the lessons from 11 years as a senior pastor.
Tim and his wife Bronwyn have 3 adult children.

Favour was born in Nigeria but moved to New Zealand with her family as a child.
A lawyer by training, she now works in alternative dispute resolution.
Favour married her husband Jonathan in 2022.

Favour Lawry

Trustee

Nathan and his wife Tsitsi moved from their homeland of Zimbabwe
to NZ via Thailand and Malaysia. They are the parents of 2 daughters.
He is an airfield lighting specialist at Auckland International Airport, the gateway to New Zealand.
